Meguiar's investment in Taiwan, China exceeded 30 billion US dollars, adding a new office building!
Micron Technology's subsidiary in Taiwan officially held the opening ceremony of its third office building in Taichung City on December 25, 2024, marking an important milestone in Micron's long-term investment in Taiwan. This new facility aims to expand office space and is expected to be fully completed by May 2025. As of June 2024, Micron has invested over 30 billion US dollars in Taiwan during its 30-year business operations in the region.
At the opening ceremony, Donghui Lu, Vice President of Micron's front-end manufacturing enterprise and Chairman of Micron Taiwan subsidiary, emphasized that as Micron's largest DRAM manufacturing center and key R&D center, the importance of Taiwan to the company is self-evident. After Japan began producing 1 β DRAM, Taiwan rapidly increased its production of 1 β DRAM and is expected to build the most advanced DRAM technology by 2025. According to Micron's schedule, the next generation of 1 γ DRAM is also planned to start production in the first half of 2025.
Micron expands HBM production in Taiwan!
At present, Micron Technology is committed to significantly increasing its production capacity of high bandwidth memory (HBM). The company plans to triple its current monthly production of 20000 wafers to 60000 wafers by the end of next year. This is part of a broader strategy aimed at enhancing its advanced DRAM development capabilities through the construction of a new office building in Taichung.
In order to maintain its leading position in the semiconductor technology field, Micron plans to use extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography equipment in the design of its sixth generation 10 nanometer DRAM starting next year. This cutting-edge technology can help Micron manufacture finer and more precise patterns on silicon wafers, which is crucial for producing high-performance memory products.
Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology, stated during the third quarter earnings conference call that they are confident in increasing their HBM market share to over 20% next year. At present, Micron's HBM production capacity is expected to reach approximately 20000 wafers per month by the end of this year, with the goal of reaching 60000 wafers per month by the end of next year.
In addition to the Taichung factory, Micron is also expanding HBM production capacity at the A3 factory in Taichung and the 11th factory in Taoyuan. Many new employees in the new office building will focus on researching advanced packaging technologies required by HBM.
Currently, the competition in the semiconductor industry is becoming increasingly fierce, and competitors such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are also accelerating the capacity expansion of HBM. Samsung Electronics plans to increase its HBM production capacity to 140000 to 150000 wafers per month by the end of the year, and further increase it to 170000 to 200000 wafers per month by the end of next year. SK Hynix's goal is to achieve a monthly HBM production capacity of 140000 wafers by next year.
Industry insiders have pointed out that although companies such as Samsung Electronics have slowed down recently, Micron continues to implement an active recruitment strategy by providing special conditions to domestic talents. With the arrival of the era of artificial intelligence memory, Micron is poised to launch an active offensive
Micron, as i-stock's largest customer in the semiconductor industry, has had multiple collaborations with i-stock prior to this. While expanding the production of high bandwidth memory (HBM), we also intend to further optimize the warehouse management and logistics processes in the factory area. Therefore, we have chosen to work with i-stock again to introduce a smart logistics overall solution for the factory area, in order to improve the efficiency of material storage and retrieval through automated warehouse management and intelligent sorting systems. Use automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and robots to achieve automatic transportation and handling of materials. And integrate ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and other systems to achieve real-time monitoring and management of the production process. Reuse big data analysis and machine learning techniques to conduct in-depth analysis of production data, optimize production planning and inventory management. This decision aims not only to improve the efficiency of material storage and transportation, but also to reduce costs and enhance supply chain management capabilities.
I-stock Smart Logistics Integrated Solution
